Mike Vincent, Principal and CEO of The Sustainable Package, is a strategic business leader with over three decades of food packaging, product/process development, quality assurance, strategic sourcing and sustainable business experience. He is an innovator who holds six U.S. patents for packaging and processing of food. Mike was honored by IoPP in 2021 with acceptance into the institute's College of Fellows. 

Mike is a graduate of Michigan State’s School of Packaging where he received the Sealed Air Outstanding Student scholarship. He is also a Certified Packaging Professional, lifetime status, by the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP) and collaborates on sustainability initiatives across industry platforms. In addition, he participated in developing the metrics, indicators and reporting requirements of the Global Packaging Project sponsored by the Consumer Goods Forum. Mike has been published in food and packaging journals and authored a chapter on Centralized Packaging of Retail Ready Fresh Meat, included in the book Modified Atmosphere Food Packaging, edited by Dr. Aaron Body & published by IoPP.

In his diverse career experience, he led Safeway's supply chain sustainability team, where  initiatives and metrics were defined, and programs were implemented to successfully achieve sustainability goals. Previously, Mike managed the sourcing team responsible for procuring all packaging for Safeway's 31 manufacturing plants. As Principal of The Sustainable Package, LLC he solves client's hardest challenges - be it a specific problem or a complete development project.
